Private Dog Training Lessons Programs
Our private obedience programs are designed as a progression, allowing you and your dog to build a strong foundation before moving into more advanced obedience and real-world reliability.
Why Choose Private Training?
One-on-One Attention
Your trainer can focus entirely on you, your dog, and your individual training goals.
Personalized Training
Training can be adjusted based on your dog’s temperament, experience, learning style, and progress.
Learn Alongside Your Dog
Private lessons aren’t just about teaching your dog — they’re about teaching you how to communicate, practice, and maintain your dog’s training.
Progress at Your Dog’s Pace
Rather than keeping up with a group curriculum, your trainer can spend more time where your dog needs it and progress when they’re ready.
A Path to Advanced Training
Your obedience foundation can open the door to advanced training, specialty programs, and graduate group classes at OverWatch K9 Academy.

Private Dog Training in Atlanta FAQs
How long is each private dog training lesson?
Each private training lesson is approximately one hour and provides dedicated one-on-one instruction with an OverWatch K9 Academy trainer.
Where are private dog training lessons held?
Private dog training lessons are held at our Atlanta training facility located at 1388 Chattahoochee Ave NW, Atlanta, GA 30318, conveniently located near Vinings and Smyrna. Our facility is appointment only, so all private training sessions are scheduled in advance.
How do I know which private training program is right for my dog?
Dogs who are new to formal obedience training should begin with Foundational Obedience. Dogs who already have a reliable obedience foundation may qualify for Advanced Obedience following a trainer evaluation.
If you want to progress from foundational skills through advanced obedience, our 8-lesson Foundational & Advanced Obedience program provides the complete training progression.
Can my puppy take private lessons?
Yes! Private puppy training is a great option for owners who want individualized instruction. Your trainer can customize lessons around your puppy’s age, development, and training needs.
Can more than one family member attend a private lesson?
Yes! We encourage household members who will be involved in handling and training the dog to participate when appropriate. Consistency between family members can make it easier for your dog to understand expectations and maintain their training at home.
How do I schedule my private dog training lessons?
Getting started is easy! Select Get Started to create your client account, enroll in your private training program, and complete payment. Once enrolled, you’ll have access to our training calendar where you can schedule your private lessons.
Your lessons can be scheduled throughout your program, allowing you time to practice and build on your training between sessions.
How often should I schedule my private lessons?
Your trainer will help determine an appropriate schedule based on your dog’s training program, progress, and how much time you have to practice between sessions. Consistent practice at home between private lessons is an important part of the training process. We typically recommend 1-2 weeks in between lessons.
What training methods do you use?
Every dog is different, so our training approach is tailored to the individual dog rather than relying on a single method for every situation. We consider factors such as temperament, motivation, experience, and training goals while teaching owners how to communicate clearly and consistently with their dogs.
You can learn more about how and why we train on our Dog Training Philosophy page.
What happens after we complete Advanced Obedience?
Training doesn’t have to end after Advanced Obedience! Graduates can continue developing their skills through our Real World Dog group program or explore specialty training such as Rally, Agility, Scent Work, CGC preparation, and other activities.
