Set Your Puppy Up For Success
At OverWatch K9 Academy, we know that early training is the key to raising a confident, happy, and well-behaved dog. That’s why we’ve designed a 6-week group puppy training program to give your puppy the perfect foundation for a lifetime of success. Our classes combine expert guidance, socialization opportunities, and positive reinforcement techniques to set your puppy up for a happy and well-adjusted future.
Why Early Puppy Training Is Essential
The first few months of your puppy’s life are a critical time for learning and development. Puppies are like sponges, absorbing everything around them and forming lifelong habits.
Socialization is a crucial part of raising a well-adjusted puppy. During class, your puppy will meet new people, interact with other puppies, and experience different environments in a safe, supervised setting. This exposure helps prevent fear and aggression later in life.
Our program is specifically tailored to address the unique needs of puppies aged 11-16 weeks, focusing on teaching essential skills, building confidence, and creating positive associations with new experiences.
Group Puppy Classes In Atlanta FAQs
Do you limit how many puppies are in a class?
Class sizes are limited to 6 puppies so our trainers can provide individual attention to each puppy and owner.
Where are your puppy classes held?
Our group puppy classes are held at the OverWatch K9 Academy training facility at 1388 Chattahoochee Ave NW, Atlanta, GA 30318. Classes are scheduled in advance, and our facility is appointment only outside of scheduled classes and training appointments.
Are classes weather dependant?
Our group puppy classes are held indoors at our Atlanta training facility, so classes are held rain or shine! In the event of severe weather or unsafe travel conditions, we may reschedule a class and will notify enrolled clients as soon as possible.
How old does my puppy need to be to attend group puppy classes?
Puppies must be between 12 and 16 weeks old at the start of their program. This age range gives us an opportunity to work with puppies during an important developmental stage while building obedience, confidence, social skills, and positive experiences with the world around them.
How long are your puppy training classes?
Our group puppy programs run for 6 weeks and meet once per week at our Atlanta training facility. Puppy Obedience and Puppy Agility & Confidence classes are approximately 1 hour, while Puppy Socialization sessions are approximately 30 minutes.
Does my puppy need to be fully vaccinated before attending class?
Because our programs are designed for young puppies, we do not expect every puppy to have completed their entire adult vaccination series before beginning training. Puppies must meet our age-appropriate vaccination and health requirements before participating.
We recommend discussing your puppy’s individual vaccination schedule and participation in group activities with your veterinarian.
Can my puppy attend if they are older than 16 weeks?
Our group puppy programs are specifically designed for puppies who are 12–16 weeks old when the program begins. Puppies who are older than the age requirement can still train with OverWatch K9 Academy through our private training programs, which allow us to tailor training to the individual dog’s age, experience, behavior, and goals.
Do you offer an AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test?
Yes! Puppy Obedience students have the opportunity to participate in an optional AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test and certification at the completion of the program.
Can I enroll my puppy in more than one class?
Absolutely! Puppy Obedience, Puppy Agility & Confidence, and Puppy Socialization are designed to complement one another. Puppies can participate in multiple programs to work on obedience, confidence, coordination, problem-solving, and healthy social development.
We also offer the Complete Puppy Program for owners who want to enroll in all three.
What happens after my puppy graduates from puppy class?
Puppy class is just the beginning! As your puppy gets older, you can continue training through our private obedience or board and train programs. We also offer advanced group training and specialty programs such as Real World Dog, Agility, Rally, Scent Work, Therapy Dog Training, and CGC preparation.
How do I enroll in an upcoming Atlanta puppy class?
Choose the upcoming class date that works best for you and select Enroll Now. You’ll complete your puppy’s registration and enrollment requirements before securing their spot in class.
