What Private Lessons Are — and Aren’t
Private lessons provide one-on-one coaching focused on obedience, manners, and everyday behavior. Training takes place in your home and selected environments to address real-life situations as they naturally occur.
These programs are not designed to replace immersive Board & Train options. Success depends on owner participation, consistency between sessions, and realistic expectations based on each dog’s age and development.
Who Private Lessons Are Ideal For
Ideal For:
- Owners who want to be involved in their dog’s training
- Families seeking guidance and structure at home
- Puppies and dogs needing foundational or advanced obedience
- Households looking for practical, real-world results
Not ideal for:
- Owners seeking a send-out or train-for-you option
- Dogs requiring immersive or intensive training programs
- Families unable to practice between sessions
Training Approach
Private lessons are designed to teach both the dog and the owner. While dogs learn obedience and manners, owners are coached on timing, communication, and how to reinforce behaviors correctly between sessions.
This approach builds confidence, consistency, and long-term success — ensuring skills translate into daily life rather than remaining limited to training sessions.

Private Lessons FAQs
What is the difference between puppy lessons and in-home private lessons?
Lesson placement is based on age and developmental stage. Puppy lessons are designed for young puppies building early foundations, while in-home private lessons are for dogs 5 months and older working on obedience, manners, and real-world reliability.
Do lessons take place in my home?
Yes. All private lessons are conducted in your home or in selected real-world environments, depending on the program.
Do I need to be involved in the training?
Yes. Private lessons are designed to teach both the dog and the owner. Active participation is essential to ensure skills carry over into daily life.
Can private lessons replace a Board & Train program?
Private lessons are an excellent option for many dogs, but they are not a replacement for immersive Board & Train programs. During our phone consultation or in-person evaluation, we can help determine the best fit based on your goals, schedule, and your dog’s needs.
I’m not sure which lesson option is right — what should I do?
If you’re unsure where to start, we’re happy to help guide you. A consultation can help determine the most appropriate lesson path based on your dog’s age, development, and your goals.
