What the Puppy Consultation Is — and Isn’t
This consultation is a one-time, in-home session focused on education, assessment, and early foundation work. It provides professional guidance during a critical developmental window, helping owners understand how to support their puppy’s learning and daily routines.
This is not a replacement for ongoing training programs. While we begin foundational skills during the session, continued progress depends on consistency and follow-through after the consultation.
Ideal for:
- New puppy owners seeking early guidance and structure
- Families feeling unsure where to start with training
- Puppies in the early developmental stages
Not ideal for:
- Owners seeking full obedience training
- Owners seeking a long-term training solution without follow-up
What We Cover During the Consultation
Each Puppy Consultation is tailored to the puppy and household, with a focus on practical guidance and early skill development.
Topics commonly include:
- Crate training guidance and routines
- Potty training structure and troubleshooting
- Daily schedules and puppy management
- Answering common puppy behavior questions
- Name recognition and engagement
- Introduction to recall (“come”)
- Introduction to sit and early obedience concepts
Our goal is to provide confidence and direction — helping families leave the session with a clear understanding of what to do next and how to support their puppy’s development at home.
Puppy Consultation FAQs
How old should my puppy be for a consultation?
Consultations are best suited for puppies in the early stages of development, anywhere from 8-16 weeks old. Exact timing can be discussed during scheduling.
Will my puppy be trained during the consultation?
Yes. We begin foundational work during the session, but the primary focus is education, guidance, and setting expectations for continued training.
Do I need to prepare anything in advance?
No special preparation is required. Your trainer will guide the session based on your puppy, household, and goals.
What happens after the consultation?
Many families choose to continue with puppy lessons, board & train programs, or raise & train options. Your trainer will help outline the most appropriate next steps based on your puppy’s needs.
